OXFORD MUSIC AND POETRY SCENE

Moving to a new town where you know absolutely no-one can potentially be a daunting task? There are so many unknowns it’s easy for fear to creep in! But if you push through then on the other side of fear lies an abundance of opportunities for positive change, growth, a new start and new connections.

And that’s exactly what’s happened since I had to move out of London to Oxfordshire. It has made me reassess what’s important, it’s given me my own studio set up, a new band to play my solo songs, an inspiring new creative home and from that I’ve written some of my best songs, ever.

Songwriting is sometimes like “therapy” in that it provides a creative outlet to feelings and thoughts that you might have otherwise bottle in? However, playing songs on your own in the studio, as part of the writing process, is no substitute for real connection in performing music live, in a room packed with interesting souls who are ready to engage. Oxford has provided that for me and I’ve met some lovely, inspiring people who have welcomed me into their local music and poetry scene. Thank you for the new connections and the opportunity to set free new songs into the world for the first time.
